Puranava 2026 – Chennai

Puranava 2026, Chennai was successfully conducted on 27th June 2026 at the iconic Sathguru Gnanananda Hall, Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet, bringing together young minds from across Chennai for a vibrant celebration of Bharatiya knowledge, culture, and heritage.

The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 55 schools participating. Students travelled from not only Chennai but also from places as far as Puducherry and Kanchipuram, underscoring the growing enthusiasm and reach of the competition. A remarkable 195 teams, each comprising three students, participated in this year’s edition.

The programme commenced promptly at 8:00 a.m. and concluded at 12:30 p.m., progressing seamlessly through two exciting stages: the Preliminary Round and the Grand Finals.

The Preliminary Round, consisting of 25 carefully curated questions, was conducted by Kum Charulatha, whose calm and composed presentation ensured a smooth and engaging experience for all participants. Following the preliminaries, Sri Yagneshwaran led the answer discussion, transforming the hall into a lively arena filled with anticipation, cheers, and animated conversations as participants eagerly compared their responses and celebrated their correct answers.

The Grand Finals featured the top six teams, who competed across six diverse and intellectually stimulating rounds. Engagingly hosted by Sri Nirmalasriskandhan, the finals captivated both participants and audience alike. The rounds explored a fascinating range of themes; from Indian postage stamps to a dedicated round celebrating the vibrant city of Chennai. Throughout the competition, the hall resonated with enthusiastic applause, spirited guesses, and appreciative cheers, making for an exhilarating atmosphere.

After an intensely contested finale, the winners emerged as:

  • First Place: Vidya Mandir
  • First Runner-up: PSBB KK Nagar
  • Second Runner-up: PSBB Nungambakkam

The winning teams were awarded cash prizes of ₹15,000, ₹9,000, and ₹6,000 respectively, made possible through the generous support of our Title Sponsor, Conscience Multi Family Office.

The prizes, along with magnificent trophies, were presented by GOD Trustees Sri T. S. Ramachandran and Sri Balaji Ramachandran. The champions from Vidya Mandir were also presented with the prestigious Puranava Shield, which they proudly took home. The remaining finalist teams were recognised for their outstanding performances with backpacks generously sponsored by Roshan Bag Mall.

As the curtains drew on another memorable edition of Puranava, participants departed carrying much more than prizes. They left enriched with new insights into the timeless wisdom, achievements, history, and cultural grandeur that Bharat has offered through the ages and continues to offer the world today.

The celebrations concluded on a delightful note, as every participant, volunteer, teacher, and guest enjoyed a sumptuous, piping-hot meal generously sponsored by GRT Hotels & Resorts, providing a fitting end to a morning filled with learning, healthy competition, and joyous camaraderie.

Puranava Chennai 2026 once again stood as a testament to the enthusiasm of young learners, the dedication of educators and volunteers, and the collective commitment to preserving and celebrating India’s rich civilisational heritage.
