“What is a true gift?” – a compilation.

2022 has been an unforgettable year for all of us. The year we were blessed with the news that Sri Guruji had agreed to participate in a Sri Brindavan Yatra with His devotees. No sooner did we hear this news, the hearts of Muscat satsanghis started racing like devotees all over (with the madurageetham Brindavanam para para….). Preparations for the yatra started. Everyone started buying various dry fruits like dates, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, raisins etc to offer to Sri Guruji. A shawl was also bought and packed on behalf of Muscat satsangh to offer to Sri Guruji.

At this point, we got a notification from Sri Kalpana mami in the whatsapp group that ‘No offerings should be made to Sri Guruji in Brindavan!’ Oh No! We wondered what to do with the various things we had bought for Sri Guruji. Suddenly an idea struck. As a celebration of Sri G’s 61st Jayanthi, we would offer 61 shawls to sadhus in Brindavan alongwith the dry fruits already bought.

Our satsanghi Usha Sreedharji bought 61 shawls in Delhi and we offered them to the sadhus at RamanRethi in Brindavan, telling them the shawls were to commemorate the 61st jayanthi of our Guru Maharaj. They happily accepted them and bestowed heartfelt wishes on Sri Guruji. Hearing them we felt ‘Ahaa! Isn’t this the true gift!’

Several months later, we chanced upon the following shlokas in Udhdhava Gita where Bagavan says:
ஶ்ரத்தாம்ருதகதாயாம் மே ஶஶ்வந் மதநுகீர்தநம் l
பரிநிஷ்டா ச பூஜாயாம் ஸ்துதிபி: ஸ்தவநம் மம ll
ஆதர: பரிசர்யாயாம் ஸர்வாங்கை ரபி வந்தநம் l
மத் பக்த பூஜாப் யதி கா ஸர்வபூதேஷு மந்மதி: ll
Bagavan says, ‘More than hearing my stories, telling my gunas and leelas, worshipping me, prostrating to me – worshipping my devotees, seeing me in all living things makes me happy’ This note came about after reading the above shloka and our happiness doubled.
