Guru Poornima Celebrations in Houston

By the blessings of Sri Swamiji and the immense grace of Sri Aishwarya Srinivasa Perumal, a three-day Guru Poornima celebration was conducted at the temple. The festivities commenced on July 28 with Paduka Abhishekam. Devotees witnessed the abhishekam for Sri Guru’s Padukas with milk, curds, chandanam, fruits and honey. Throughout the ritual, devotees sang Guru kirtans and the Mahamantra, concluding with a Thirumanjanam and Harathi.

The celebration continued on July 29, Guru Poornima day, beginning with a 6-hour Akhanda Mahamantra chanting session in the afternoon. In the evening, Sri Vyasa Puja was performed, followed by a mass prayer dedicated to jobs, career growth, and prosperity. Sri Aravindji addressed the gathering of about 100 devotees, sharing Sri Swamiji’s teachings on the significance of collective prayers and the ideal way to pray. The evening concluded with the distribution of dinner prasadam to attendees.

The 3-day Guru Poornima celebrations concluded on Sat August 1 with Sri Hanumanji puja and Guru kirtans followed by Maha Harathi. The apt conclusion to the celebrations was a live Guru Poornima address by Sri Ramanujamji, disciple of Sri Swamiji which was broadcast live at the temple.

About 200 people attended the celebrations over the three days.
