Events in Mumbai in November’19

The 3 rd Edition of Inter School Heritage Quiz “Puranava, Career Guidance work shop “UDYOG” and the very first edition of “Madhurageetam” was held in Mumbai in November 2019.
The first two events were held under the Aegis of Joy of Sharing Trust and the very 1 st edition of Madhurageetam was held under the Aegis of Global Organistion for Divinity India Trust. Puranava and Udyog were held on November 23, 2019 at K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering Auditorium, Mumbai and Madhurageetam was held on Nov 30 th , at Hariharaputra Bhajan Samaj, Chembur.

HERITAGE QUIZ – PURANAVA :

Puranava 2019 saw an enthusiastic participation of 71 teams (as against 68 teams last year) from Schools across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. While most of the participating schools have been continuing their association with the annual event, this year three new schools participated including some of the best schools of Mumbai. The Preliminary round of the quiz was conducted by Mr.Vignesh Sundarraman and the Finals was conducted by Mr.M.K.Ramanujam , ably supported by Dr Janani Vasudevan. There was a marked increase in the scoring pattern in the preliminary rounds itself as compared to last year, indicating higher level of awareness and the resultant preparedness. The finals of the event was also hotly contested and went on to a thrilling tie breaker with Udayanchal School of Godrej emerging winners. VPM International Airoli were the first runners up and Modern English School Chembur were the second runners up. Prizes were also awarded to many students who answered spot questions. The event concluded with Mrs Swathi Shiva proposing a vote of thanks. The sponsors for the event were Empathy Foundation, Universal Medicare (P)Ltd, Turner International and Rati Logistics .

CAREER GUIDANCE WORKSHOP – UDYOG

UDYOG 2019 , the free Career guidance Workshop is aimed at giving a direction and focus to the students on their path to choosing a career. This year also, around 325 .students from 17 schools & Junior Colleges participated in the event. The event was held in the afternoon session of 23 rd Nov at Somayya college of Engineering Auditorium. Mrs. Swathi Shiva hosted the event. This year the panel of eminent speakers consisted of:
1.Commander(Retd) Madhavi Vinod & Ltnt(Retd) Vinod Subramaniam (Defence as a career option).
2.Mrs Padmaja Raghunathan (First woman Actuary of India, now Head of Product and Pricing at
Aditya Birla Sunlife Insurance on Actuarial Science)

3.Mr.Yogesh Ginde (Sr. Vice President , at WNS, on Cyber Security)
4. Mr Prasad Sangameshwaran (Managing Editor, Campaign Advertising, on Digital Media)
5.Mr.Srinath Krishnamoorty (General Manager, Western Region of Blue Dart, on Supply Chain &
Logistics)

The Panel of speakers were all highly accomplished with thorough expertise in their respective fields. Each of them spoke for about 25 minutes followed by 10 minutes of interaction with the students. The event received a very warm response from the students as well as a few parents/teachers who had accompanied them. Shri M.K.Ramanujam, Trustee, Joy Of Sharing wrapped up the event touching upon the take aways from each of the speakers’ and exhorted the students to choose the option of “AND” instead of “OR” whenever they were faced with battle of choosing a profession of their parents’ choice over their choice. He said that with the multitude of avenues opening up in
various fields and advent of many new professions one can definitely pursue a combination , viz.career of their passion and career of their parents’ choice. He emphasised on the need to direct their efforts in the proper direction and wished the students a bright future.
