Fond memories of bliss – Part 15

It was during the early 90’s when Sri Swamiji used to discourse on Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi’s works in Mylapore, Chennai. On one such occasion, Sri Lakshmanan, a satsang member accompanied Sri Swamiji on His way to the discourse.

That was around the time when our late Prime Minister Sri Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. On that day, Sri Swamiji casually told to Sri Lakshmanan, “You see, Sonia Gandhi will play a leading role in Indian politics in future.” Given the political scenario then, that statement did not seem too be too credible.

Sri Lakshmanan tells us that today, when he sits back and reminisces those moments which are still fresh in his mind, that he just can’t help wondering how true Sri Swamiji’s words were!

One fine morning, Sri Lakshmanan came to Premika Bhavanam to have darshan of our Guru Maharaj before proceeding to his office that day. Sri Swamiji called him and started a conversation with him about his office, his benefits and perquisites. Sri Swamiji specifically asked him if his company provided him with any stock options.

Lakshmananji nodded in the negative. Sri Swamiji gave a questionable look and simply kept silent and let go of him.

Lakshmananji had the surprise of his life when he reached office. That very day, he was awarded stock options! His happiness knew know bounds when he saw the order confirming the same. During his next darshan, he joyfully narrated to Sri Swamiji the incidents that happened at his office. Sri Swamiji gave a pleasant smile!

Saints sometimes play thus with their devotees knowingly or unknowingly in order help the devotee reaffirm their faith and deepen their devotion towards the Guru and God.
