Events by Love to Share Foundation America – April 2026

On April 25, 2026, volunteers from the Virginia chapter of Love to Share Foundation America (LTSFA) participated in an event hosted by Repair Cafe, RVA – the Mend & Share Fair at Yaupon Place and Union Presbyterian Seminary. This “Rain or Shine” community event was dedicated to the principles of sustainability, skill-sharing, and collective care.

Core Impact Areas:
1. Waste Reduction & Repair (Mend)
The event served as a hub for restorative action. Local experts provided free repairs for a wide range of household items, helping attendees extend the lifecycle of their belongings and divert waste from landfills.
Services provided: Repairs for bikes, electronics, textiles, jewelry, and furniture.
Skill-building: Attendees didn’t just get items fixed; they learned practical repair skills from onsite specialists.

2. Resource Redistribution (Share)
The “Free Swap” encouraged a circular economy where community members donated quality pre-owned items and took what they needed.
Organization: Dedicated volunteers managed large sorting stations, ensuring thousands of items—from clothing to household goods—were organized and ready for new homes.

3. Community Connection (Fair)
Beyond the functional services, the fair was a celebration of community spirit.
Engagement: The day featured Shalom Farms tours, educational workshops, and food trucks.
Youth & Family: With attractions like a large inflatable slide, the event provided a space for families to connect with the foundation’s mission in a joyful environment.

Volunteer Spotlight
The success of the day was driven by the tireless efforts of LTSFA volunteers. From managing the “thrift” stations under the blue tents to coordinating the registration of hundreds of guests, the team was noted by community partners for their “amazing” energy and organizational precision.

Love to Share Foundation America extends its gratitude and congratulations to Hopkinton Middle School students Tejas Prasad, Aahaan Punjabi, and Mohanakrishnan Narayanan for winning 3rd Place at the Massachusetts Middle School Science & Engineering Fair in Worcester!. Representing the Love to Share Foundation of America, the team impressed judges with their innovative project using calcium alginate beads to remove copper ions from water — a sustainable solution for heavy metal contamination through reusable bead regeneration.

Competing among 220+ projects and 320+ students statewide, they were also the only team representing Hopkinton Middle School at the fair. A special shoutout to mentor Ms. Geeta Pherwani for guiding them throughout their journey. We are incredibly proud of these young scientists and their outstanding achievement!
