Prayers and Nama for a Noble Soul

The world boasts of many wonders. One true wonder of the world is Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi. Sri Subramanianji, fondly known to all as ‘Mani Anna’ hails from the illustrious lineage of Bhagavan’s family. His elder brother was named Ganesan and when this child was born, Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi remarked, ‘Ganesha’s brother would have to be Subramanian’ and was thus named.

An embodiment of selfless seva to Sri Ramanashramam, Sri Mani Anna symbolised kindness, simplicity, administrative finesse and hospitality. When one thinks of him, a beautiful image of this energetic person sporting a sweet smile, clad in white carrying out his administrative tasks in a loving and majestic manner comes to mind at once. By being a gracious host, he has left a lasting mark in the hearts of all devotees of Bhagavan, spiritual seekers & visitors to the ashram. He was most supportive of anyone who carried the divine teachings of Bhagavan to all.

‘Mani’ means ‘Bell’. Just like the temple bells announce the worship of Lord to all, this ‘Mani’ anna lived and breathed to carry Bhagavan’s teachings far and wide across the world. Not just the divine shabda (sound) of this Mani, but the entire soul has merged in Bhagavan Sri Ramana on 19/7/2022 at Thiruvannamalai.

Maharanyam Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji and the entire Namadwaar family offer respect, prayers and nama to this noble soul at this hour.

The base pillar of Sri Ramanasramam has fallen. I have had the privilege of enjoying his affection from the very first day of my visit to Sri Ramanasramam. During my Sri Ramanasramam days he would very affectionately tell me ‘do not go here and there. Bhagavan is here. Just stick to this place.’ And, of course I did and it helped. Later, he always used to enquire about my welfare from my sister, a devotee of Bhagavan and a regular there.
My ananta koti pranams to this noble soul whose life revolved around the Ashram.

A gentle and ever-smiling soul, Sri.Mani Anna was an embodiment of selfless “Seva” at the Holy Feet of Sri. Bhagavan Ramana. He had lovingly made wonderful arrangements for our stay at the Ashram during July 1st week. We couldn’t meet as he was resting with a sore throat and chided us not to visit him at his Home. Now we have to live cherishing his sweet memories and wish him a smooth journey to the Higher Planes of Consciousness. Om Shanthi…Om Namo Bhaghavathey Ramanaya…🙏🕉️🙏…

Great soul. During the year 2003/2008, our weekends would be spent either in our Maharanyam ashram or at Thiruvanamalai, during those times whenever we visit the ashram, in the midst of the crowd and his activities as soon as he sees us, he would greet and welcome with a smile. He would ask when did you come, where are you staying and will extend us to join the lunch que for prasadam. His hospitality, simplicity and humbleness one has to learn and adopt. More so for a spiritual seeker.

    Om Sri Guru Ramana.

    *A Tribute*
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Sri Mani Anna. We were literally seeing Bhagavan in him. I’m feeling extremely sad and distressed at this sudden and unexpected loss. I can’t imagine the Ashram without him. I have many fond memories of him. In addition to our receiving his regular blessings, my young grandchildren Mithila and Vishwa were also fortunate to receive his loving blessings recently. They were carried and kissed by him. He always told me that my son Pratheek is the child of the ashram. Over the years, he has given us a lot of his valuable time by sharing with us his knowledge and experience on the path of Bhagavan which he had been exposed to from his childhood days. This was not only educative but also reassuring to us on the path of life we were following and we felt that Bhagavan was always with us and guiding us in all possible ways. The Office will definitely be incomplete without him. He is the best role model for all who want to lead a simple life in this world of wealth, power and glamour. One look at him will make us realise how such a simple man can command and demand so much respect; how even in the simplest way of dressing, one can look dignified; how with the kind of lifestyle he led, he could easily stand out in a crowd; how with the smallest appearance he stands tall; how one can earn love and respect without even expecting it. One look at him we would feel like touching his feet. He is the personification of humility. With one look he can pour love and with one look he can be stern too. This is very difficult but he does it like the snap of a finger. He is so fortunate to have been born in the lineage of Bhagavan himself and the chosen one to be the pillar of support of our ashram for so many decades. He can go nowhere but merge in Arunachala which is right in front of his eyes. He has made himself worthy and eligible to merge in him. I pay my respects in all aspects to such a great and noble soul. I thank my Bhagavan and Arunachala to have blessed me and my family to have had his kind and elevating association for the past 20 years continuously.
Physically he might not be there, but his presence will definitely be felt welcoming me as soon as I enter his room in the office. We would also miss his presence welcoming us near the well when we go to the dining hall. We would also miss him near Bhagavan’s Samadhi when we go around it at the time of the Veda Parayana and the Tamil Parayana sitting on the men’s side during the evenings. That warm welcoming smile is what I will cherish forever. Mani Sir you are the real MANI (gem) from the lineage of Bhagavan. We will surely miss you always. Stay blessed at the feet of our Sadguru Bhagavan Ramana and in the holy presence of the Supreme Arunachala. Pray bless us from your great level. Thank you, Mani Sir, for all that you have done for me and my family which we will always cherish and relish. With my humble pranams and gratitude. — Bhagya Lakshmi Sreedhar, Hyderabad 🙏

I met Mani Anna in the year 1987 in the Ashram. I took my two sons along with me. Anna gave me a smiling welcome. As my mind was filled up with Baghawan I looked Baghawan in Mani Anna Baghawan சொன்ன ஸ்பூர்த்தியை அன்று உணர்ந்தேன். அந்த உணர்வோடு அவர் மறைவை நான் உணரவில்லை. எல்லோர் மனதிலும் இனியும் வாழ்வார்.
