By Sri Guruji’s immense grace, Samskruti and Puranava were introduced in USA and was well received by parents and children alike. All the events were held at Pebblecreek Montessori school from 2 pm to 5 pmduring our annual Thanksgiving Madhura Utsav.

Samskruti focused on five events namely Chess, Arts, Rangoli, Classical Kirtan and Elocution. All the events started off with chanting of Mahamantra for 8 times. Chess - a 5 minutes blitz round event on 20th Nov was the first to set the ball rolling (or rather, pawns moving) with participants consisting of varying age groups. The winner was an American Lady associated with Dallas Chess club. This was followed by Art on 21st Nov, which had about 35 participants, grouped in 3 age tiers. The topics were My favorite festival, Avatars of Lord Vishnu and Temple architecture. Rangoli, held on the same day, witnessed participation from 7 teams. Classical Kirtan competition, held on Nov 22nd, was a resounding success. About 35 children participated and sang compositions of various saints such Purandara Dasa, Oothakaadu Venkata Kavi, Pandarpur Bhaktas, Meera Bhai to name a few and our dearest Sri G. Parents reached out to us at the end of the event and appreciated the uniqueness of our idea where children were quizzed on aspects such as charitra of the saints, why they composed a particular kirtan etc. The first place winners of all the 3 age groups had the bhagyam of rendering the kirtan again in front of Thakurji and Poornima ji before the commencement of the evening discourse. Elocution, held on Nov 23rd, had 12 participants talking about various themes that glorify India. Photo of a write up from one of the participants is attached where he mentions how much he enjoyed and learnt from our events.

Puranava, held on Nov 24th, had 16 teams of various age groups with the youngest being a 7 year old and the oldest 75 year old. Prelims commenced with the chanting of Mahamantra followed by ‘Jana Gana Mana’. This round ensured the count reduced to 4 teams who went to the finals. Poornima ji wished the finals to be held in the main hall and this meant the finals were viewed by about 60 to 70 enthusiastic and vocal audience. There were 4 rounds in the finals namely Simple questions Simple answers (direct round), Suno Sadhuji (Audio/Visual round), Dharma Sankatam (Jeopardy) and Agni Pariksha (Rapid fire). After a close contest, the winners were Team ‘Navaneetha Dandam (butter stick)’ comprising our very own Haritha and Raghu ji. The Finals was telecast live on FB and the video is available on DallasGOD satsang page.

Given the fact that Sri G blessed us with this idea only about 6 weeks back, it was a miracle that unfolded in front of our eyes in every way. Parents who had enrolled their kids in these competitions were so appreciative of our initiative that some of them stayed back to participate in our utsavam till the very end. Dallas GOD offers its koti pranams at the Lotus Feet of Sri Guruji for blessing us with an opportunity to introduce Samskruti and Puranava in USA and ensuring that it was a resounding success.
