MADHURAPURI ASHRAM – AN ABODE OF BLISS

Madhurapuri ashram is located at picturesque, serene Maharanyam village, in the outskirts of Chennai, a few kilometers away from Sriperumpudur, the birth place of Sri Ramanujacharya, the great Vaishnava Acharya. Madhurapuri has a significant and close relation with the two avatars of Sri Narayana, Sri Rama and Sri Krishna. Legend has it that Sri Rama spent three days in this village as He journeyed southward. The neighbouring Manimangalam village has a very ancient Rajagopalaswami Temple in which stone inscriptions can be found referring to this region as ‘Dwaaravati’ which means ‘Dwaaraka’.The citizens of Dwaaraka, from Sri Krishna’s time were settled in this village by Sage Agasthya. The essence of Madhurapuri Ashram is Bhagavatha Dharma, Bhagavan Sri Krishna and Nama Kirtan.
